Privacy Notice

PhDArts considers the privacy of applicants to be very important. When you apply, PhDArts receives certain information from you: personal details, your CV and your portfolio. Your data are processed in accordance with the applicable legislation. This Privacy Notice is intended to inform you about the way in which PhDArts processes the data of applicants.

The following data may be collected:

Name, address, place of residence, country
Nationality
Email address
Phone number
Date and place of birth
Gender
Type of previous education and previous educational institution
Date of graduation, subject of study, title of thesis
Expected start year

Before PhDArts records your data, you will be asked to give your consent first. This permission can be withdrawn at any given moment. You can withdraw your consent by sending an email to info@phdarts.eu.

Purposes

Personal data that you provide to PhDArts are used to enable a responsible, effective and efficient selection process. Your data will only be used to assess your suitability for the PhD position for which you have applied or to contact you.

Data of applicants

We collect and process your data directly or by means of the application form and the attached CV and portfolio that we receive via our online application procedure. PhDArts also collects and processes data through e-mail. We may, with your permission, ask for references during the application procedure. PhDArts does not share any data of applicants with third parties, unless it has a legal obligation to do so.

Retention of data of applicants

PhDArts will retain your data during the selection procedure. The data will be deleted after 3 months if your application is rejected or after 3 years if your application is accepted.

Questions and complaints

If you have any questions about the use of your personal data, please contact the coordinator involved in the selection procedure. If you suspect that PhDArts has violated any of the rules regarding privacy during the application procedure, you can report this to the Leiden University’s Data Protection Officer: privacy@bb.leidenuniv.nl. If, after consulting the Data Protection Officer, you still suspect that there has been a violation of the privacy rules, you can submit a complaint to the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
