Bonnie Tilland is a cultural anthropologist and interdisciplinary gender studies and media studies scholar. She is currently a university lecturer (UD) in Korean Studies at the Institute for Area Studies at Leiden University (LIAS). Her research to date has centered on television, film, the senses, and gender and family in South Korea (and transnational East Asia). She holds a PhD from the University of Washington in Seattle, USA, and previously worked as an associate professor of East Asian Studies at Yonsei University in South Korea. She also dabbles in translation (literary and scholarly).
