Programme

This semester, the PhDArts doctoral study programme will consist of lectures and workshops by PhDArts staff and invited guests, as well as presentations by doctoral candidates of their individual research projects.

Among the staff and guest speakers are:

• Anke Haarmann, Professor in the Practice and Theory of Research in the Visual Arts and director of PhDArts at the Academy of Creative and Performing Arts (ACPA), Leiden University and professor in Art Theory & Practice at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK), The Hague;
• Mika Elo, Professor of artistic research, Head of the Doctoral Programme, and Vice-dean of Research at the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of the Arts Helsinki (FI);
  
• Harri Laakso, Associate Professor of Photography Research at Aalto University (FI);
  
• Donald Weber, Associate Professor of Contemporary Photography at Aalto University (FI);
  
• Samir Bhowmik, artist, architect, and scholar. Academy of Finland Research Fellow (2022-27) at the University of the Arts Helsinki where he teaches and explores Extractivism and Ecology through Intelligent Performance Research.
