Workshop Amar Kanwar

Three-day workshop by artist Amar Kanwar, including seminars, group discussions and individual talks.

Amar Kanwar is an independent film-maker whose lyrical and meditative work explores the political, social, economic and ecological conditions of the Indian subcontinent. He is the recipient of the 1st Edvard Munch Award for Contemporary Art, Norway and an Honorary Doctorate in Fine Arts, Maine College of Art, USA.

Kanwar's works have been featured in group shows at highly prestigious venues around the world, notably at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York (2006), and as solo exhibitions at institutions such as the Renaissance Society in Chicago (2003), the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design in Oslo (2006), or the Whitechapel Art Gallery in London (2007). Recent solo exhibitions have been at the Marian Goodman Gallery, New York, the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, and the Haus der Kunst, Munich. He has participated in Documenta 11 and Documenta 12 in Kassel, Germany. His ‘A season Outside’ was awarded the Golden Gate Award at the 1999 San Francisco International Film Festival and the Golden Conch at the Mumbai International Documentary Film Festival.
