For the »Magical Hackerism« Web Residency at Akademie Schloss Solitude, the duo Luiz Zanotello and Islam Shabana propose tying a knot between their birthtowns at Jundiaí in Brazil (near the Tropic of Capricorn) and El Kharja oasis in Egypt (near the Tropic of Cancer) by tracing the material/discursive/poetic accidents around one topic of interest between both artist's practices: the rain. By setting up two nodes of the Futura Trōpica Rhizome, they will collect and foster artistic gestures and objects on both sides of the tropics related to the trope of tropical rain. The results of the residency will include a web art website and an interview with them.

The project was co-initiated by Luiz Zanotello in connection to his research on the abyssal line of thought within the tropics and postcolonial understandings of time, space and movement.
